Pigs were the star of The Show in the Pavilion tent this morning!
A record 46 pigs were entered in the Commercial Boar Class where judges were looking for the best eating pig.
Sean Spencer, vice president of Boar Breeders Association, said it was exciting to see the level of competition.
“Our expert judges are looking for a long and deep pig – something that’s going to go well on the BBQ or is good for the Christmas ham.
“We’ve got pigs here from Blenheim down to Te Anau. We just grow year on year.”
The pigs competing today were all under 12 months old, generally weighing in between 80kg-100kg.
