  • Endurocross

A fusion between the disciplines of motocross and enduro - this is fast and furious motorbiking at its best! Watch as some of Australasia's best battle it out in a series of sprint races over man-made obstacles.

  • Shearing

The competitive action in the Shearing Pavilion kicks off on Thursday with Woolhandling heats from 7.30am. Machine and Blade Shearing heats and finals take place from 7.30am on Friday. Shearing demonstrations and children's shearing will be held on Wednesday.

  • Woodchopping

If you are talking adrenaline pumping, heart stopping action, competitive woodchopping is your sport of choice. It's a continuous three day woodchopping programme at The New Zealand Agricultural Show so visitors are assured of non-stop action.

  • Gumboot Throwing

Yes, you read that right! The sport of gumboot throwing is a serious business and we’re lucky enough to be hosting the South Island Champs at The Show again this year. Head over to the Entertainment Zone next to the Endurocross Arena during Show Day to give it a go yourself. Anyone can Have a go between 10am and 2.30pm and the final will take place at 2.30pm. There are cash prizes up for grabs.

  • Canterbury's Strongest 

Fast becoming a crowd favourite, Westie Pies Canterbury's Strongest Man and Woman is growing year on year and is certainly a must in your Show Day diary. Come down and witness some freaky feats of strength from some of Canterbury’s strongest men and women. Providing fun for the whole family, watch in awe as these guys and girls push the boundaries and take home the title.

  • Let There Be Meat 

Calling all meat lovers! It’s time to let the smokey deliciousness of the BBQ comp tantalise your tastebuds. BBQ competitions are serious business and teams will come together from all over New Zealand to show that they are Kings or Queens of the grill, with each painstakingly perfect brisket slow-cooked overnight and served within the ten-minute judging window on the Friday of The Show.
