A dream come true

Vanessa Pickens and Rubinesque take out the Supreme Champion Animal of The Show.

Ever since she was a little girl, Vanessa Pickens of Springston has dreamed about winning the Supreme Champion Animal of The Show.

Today her dream was realised when she took out the prestigious prize, following a swag of other awards, with her horse Rubinesque.

Vanessa says temperament is what makes the six-year-old mare so special.

“She’s just such a kind, generous, beautiful natured horse. We call her the black Labrador of the family.

“For me, the most special thing about winning today is that I used to come to The Show when I was a little girl and watch the award being presented. I just always dreamed of winning – that’s why it means so much to me.”
